A|E BRIDE MICHELLE AND KEN | SONOMA, CA
Their Love Story…Ken and I met in 2013 doing concrete restoration at Alcatraz. We quickly became great friends and realized that we wanted to be more than friends after summer ended and started dating soon after. We have had quite a crazy relationship when it comes to traveling and long distance, I was in Chico and he was in Sacramento, then he moved to the Bay Area while I was still in Chico, Sacramento to the Bay Area, Sacramento to Reno, and finally Sacramento to the Bay again currently but through it all we have only managed to get stronger as a couple. Now its been almost 6 years, we have a house, a puppy and a kitten and our hearts couldn’t be more full of love.
Popping the question. I saw this pop up museum on Instagram called the Museum of Ice Cream in San Francisco and tried so hard to get tickets for us, failed the first time but the second release I was able to get them, when I told Ken I was finally able to get the tickets he knew that would be the place he was going to propose. We waited almost 4 months before our day to go to the MOIC came, when we finally got there we had a blast looking at everything and eating lots of ice cream. We got 3/4 of the way through the exhibit, and crawled into this little room lined with tiny mirrors, it was just the two of us and I was joking around that I didn’t know how to pose and he said “here hold this” and pulled out the ring. Needless to say I crawled out of the tiny room crying.
The most important thing for me when finding my wedding dress was staying true to my style and being comfortable in it, physically and mentally.
The best personal moments from our wedding day was in our music, Ken and I strategically picked all of them out together and they were perfect for the moments. Also, I made a lot of the decorations and people were shocked that I made them, with some carpentry work from Ken, so that was a personal win for me.
Something that stood out was the amount of fun everyone was having and how much everyone loved our vision. We wanted it to be an epic party and it defiantly was, everyone was on the dance floor and kept telling us how beautiful everything was and how much fun they were having.
My inspiration was relaxed bohemian, I took a lot of inspo from the other Olympia’s Valley Estate weddings as well.
Don’t wait until the last minute to finalize things or make decorations and try to relax. I was so over the planning phase by the time the wedding got here so it was hard to do that but if you can get past it you can have an awesome day and you forget about all of the hard work it took to get there.
