How to Measure

  • Your dress size measurements should be taken while wearing undergarments similar to the ones you will wear with your dress.
  • For floor length measurements, it’s important that you wear shoes with a similar heel height to those you will be wearing with your dress.
  • Stand comfortably with equal weight on both feet, arms resting easily at your sides, and relaxing your stomach muscles.
  • The measuring tape shouldn’t be pulled too tight or have too much slack, and should always be parallel to the floor.

1. BUST

Measure under your arms around the widest part of your back and the fullest part of the bust.

2. HOLLOW TO WAIST

Measure from the center of your collarbones (hollow) to your natural waist line.

3. WAIST

While standing up straight, bend at the waist to one side. The crease that forms is where your natural waist is located; measure there.

4. HIPS

Stand naturally with your heels together. Measure at the fullest part of your hips across both hip bones, which is usually 8” below your natural waistline.

5. HOLLOW TO HEM

Measure from the center of your collarbones (hollow) to the bottom (hem) of your dress. For floor length dresses, wear shoes with similar heel height to those you will be wearing. We recommend you get the help of a friend/family member. While you hold the tape at your hollow and look straight ahead, have them pull the tape down to the hemline.

6. SKIRT LENGTHS

The skirt length is the distance from the waistline to the bottom of the skirt.

Petite 41" from waist
Standard 44" from waist
Extra 47" from waist
Extra Extra 49" from waist

7. CHOOSING A SIZE

Compare your bust, waist, and hip measurements to the size chart. It is important that you order a size to fit the largest part of your body. If you are in between sizes, the designer recommends ordering the larger size and having the dress altered down. The golden rule is 'it's easier to take in than it is to let out'. Your measurements are to determine the closest size and alterations will be necessary to custom fit the dress.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND...

The natural waist to the hem, center front, is 44" for all sizes. The overall dress gets ever-so-slightly shorter as it gets smaller, since the bodice gets shorter per size by approximately 1/4".

For example, if the measurement from your natural waist to the ground whilst wearing your chosen heel height is 45", then you would need to select "Tall/Extra" when ordering your dress to ensure that it is not too short. If your waist to ground measurement is 40", then you would order "Petite". Once the dress arrives your seamstress can alter the hem to your required length.

Just be sure to check all of your measurements against the size chart carefully. If you are unsure, you can contact an expert stylist here and they will guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have!
